On June 26th, 2010 we will be having our 2nd annual SCC/StackPerformance Cruise! Please join us for a full day of cruising with your SCC brothers and sisters. This is a Member's only cruise. This cruise will start in Banning at the base of San Jacinto Mountain. We will meet at the IHOP in Banning at 9am and leave there at 9:30. If you'd like to eat there for breakfast, feel free to come earlier and have at it. If not, come at 9 a.m.
After leaving IHOP we will take the 243 Highway up San Jacinto Mountain. There will be spectacular views of the San Bernardino Mountains before we level off and make our way through San Jacinto State Park. We will pass through the town of Idylwild and Pine Cove and continue through the rest of the State Park until we dead end at Highway 74.
Idylwild has lots of antique stores....
We will head East on Highway 74 and will make our first stop at Lake Hemet, specifically at the Lake Hemet Market. This will be a good spot to get rid of your morning coffee and also take some pictures. Lake Hemet is on a high plain (4000+ elevation) and is a geat place for pics of your car against a tree-covered plain.
After we leave the market, we will continue SouthEast on Highway 74(Pines to Palms Highway) until we reach the city of Palm Desert. Once in Palm Desert we will have lunch at Islands Restuarant. at this point, some of you may choose to stay the rest of the day or night in Palm Springs enjoying the shopping, sights, or tramway or you can go on the second leg of our cruise. Your choice.
After lunch we will disembark on the second leg of our cruise. We will take the 111 Highway through Palm Desert and Palm Springs and head north along Indian Avenue until it dead ends at Highway 62. we will take Higway 62 north until we reach Yucca Valley. At that point, we will hang a left and go north to Pioneertown. Pioneertown was built in 1946 as a movie set for old western films that starred Gene Autry, Gail Davis, and Dick Jones. We will stop at Pappy and Harriets Bar/Restaurant there for food and drink. At that point, it's up to you...we're done! You've cruised over 100 miles if you do both legs. Hope you like it!
